What a good TikTok Shop GMV looks like
You saw a GMV number in Seller Center and you want to know if it is good, and which screen it came from. GMV is what customers paid for orders in the period you select. TikTok records it at payment, and canceled or refunded orders remain in the figure. To open it, go to Seller Center, then Data Compass, then Shop Analytics. TikTok's own pages judge that figure by comparing it with other shops in your category.

What GMV means on TikTok Shop
Gross merchandise value is the sales figure TikTok uses in shop analytics. TikTok's US Shop Analytics article calculates GMV as the product list price multiplied by the number of items sold, plus the shipping fee, minus any seller-funded discounts, minus any platform-funded discounts, and minus tax. TikTok uses the time of payment.
An order joins the total when the buyer pays. Delivery, returns and the payout date do not change that payment time. Canceled and refunded orders remain inside the same total, because the article defines GMV as the amount paid for orders in the selected period, including those later canceled or refunded.
Take one paid order and follow the pieces. The buyer pays the list price on the units sold, and also pays shipping. Those amounts are included. You then subtract a seller-funded discount, which is a promotion your shop pays for, and a platform-funded discount, which is a promotion TikTok pays for. Tax is subtracted after both. What remains is that order's contribution to GMV, stamped at payment.
TikTok's Data Compass article gives a shorter formula: price times items sold, plus shipping fees, minus seller promotions, minus platform co-funding. A US shop should follow the US article, because that calculation also subtracts tax. A UK or EU shop should follow that region's Seller University when a label or a formula on the screen differs from the US page.
Where to find GMV in Seller Center
The store-level number lives in Shop Analytics. The US article describes that module as the one that replaced the old Homepage and Growth Insights, and as the place that shows the store's core revenue metrics. The Data Compass article shows that path as three steps.
- Sign in to Seller Center.
- Open Data Compass, then Shop Analytics.
- If Shop Analytics is already in the left menu, open it. It is the same module the US article describes.
- The Data Compass article says the page presents performance data in real time by default. Choose Today when you want that live range.
A morning check can use the same dates on each screen. Note GMV in Shop Analytics for the range you care about, Today if you want the live figure. Then open Affiliate Center, Analytics, Performance, and note affiliate-only GMV for those dates. If a Product GMV Max campaign is running, review its attributed total on the GMV Max dashboard. Finish in Finance, where settlement lives. The statement export, on-hold balances and the payout screen are covered in See what Seller Center will pay out.
Affiliate orders have their own GMV. The US article sends commission-related metrics to the Affiliate Center. On Affiliate Center analytics, under Performance, GMV means the total gross merchandise value from affiliate orders in the selected time range. That screen includes only orders that came from creators. For how creators receive the products, read Get TikTok Shop creators selling your products.
TikTok's Product GMV Max overview attributes every order on an advertised product to the GMV Max dashboard in Seller Center, including orders from organic posts and from affiliates. That dashboard shows campaign attribution. Shop Analytics is still where the shop's GMV is shown.

GMV and the settlement beside it
The Data Compass article keeps GMV and settlement on two different lines. On that page, GMV is the shop's sales, and the figure includes returns, refunds and cancellations. Settlement, on the same page, is GMV minus total fees plus total adjustments.
| Line | What TikTok counts |
|---|---|
| GMV | Payments in the period. Returns, refunds and cancellations remain included. |
| Settlement | GMV minus total fees, plus total adjustments. |
Total fees in that formula are the platform charges deducted before you can withdraw the money. Category rates and the US refund administration fee are covered in TikTok Shop fees explained. When you price one product, the fee calculator applies the referral fee and the creator commission you enter.
Sellers who set the Shop Analytics figure next to a bank deposit put the difference down to fees, commissions, shipping adjustments, and the delay before a finance export. Some sellers report a high-GMV month that still loses money after ads, affiliate commissions, logistics and platform fees. That picture comes from sellers describing their own shops. Use those reports as a reason to look at settlement next to GMV. TikTok's pages give you the formula and a rank inside your category.
Why Shop Analytics and Affiliate Center disagree
The US Shop Analytics article moved commission-related metrics to the Affiliate Center. Shop Analytics keeps store-level GMV. Performance, inside affiliate analytics, counts affiliate orders only.
A week in which creators drove most of the orders will show the two figures close together. A week with many orders that never passed through an affiliate will show a larger store total, because those orders remain in Shop Analytics and do not appear in Performance. One screen shows what the shop brought in when buyers paid. The other shows what affiliate orders contributed.
Creators: a different GMV on Data Compass
If you also post as a creator, Data Compass has another count. TikTok's creator article counts paid orders and excludes gifts, samples, and sales the shop made without a creator, because those earn no commission. That paid-order count is what the article uses for Creator Level.
Read it as commissionable paid orders. The shop figure above is merchandise value at the time of payment, using the US calculation. Use the creator figure when you are checking Creator Level. Use Shop Analytics when you are checking the shop.
What does GMV Max mean on TikTok?
Product GMV Max is an automation solution for TikTok Shop Ads that optimizes for the shop's total channel ROI. The name uses the same GMV label as the analytics metric. It is an ads campaign aimed at return across the channel, and the dashboard attributes orders from products you advertise, including organic posts and affiliate orders.
Setup, the ROI target, and which orders show on that dashboard are covered in the Product GMV Max guide. Keep the campaign total on the GMV Max dashboard. Keep shop GMV in Shop Analytics.
What is a good GMV on TikTok?
TikTok's Shop Analytics article and its Data Compass article give no dollar amount that counts as a good shop GMV. Those pages publish no bar for a healthy month.
What the Data Compass article does publish is a ranking. The list is based on your last 30 days of GMV against your shop category. TikTok compares you with other shops in that category over those 30 days. A higher rank means your recent GMV is above those peers. The list sets no dollar floor.
The other GMV threshold on TikTok's pages is a minimum you choose. The sample auto-approval article says you define criteria such as 30-day GMV, the minimum sales performance you are looking for. You set that quota anywhere from 1 to 100. The GMV filter is the minimum you choose, and the article lists no dollar tiers for it. The review timer and the posting deadline are explained in the free samples guide.
I would read the category comparison first, and then settlement. That rank says whether recent GMV is ahead of peers. Settlement, GMV minus total fees plus total adjustments, says what remains. Run one order through the fee calculator so you can see the referral fee and the creator commission before you treat a higher GMV as a healthy shop. High GMV with a low settlement means the month brought in little cash, even if the shop ranks well.
My take
I would put the settlement figure next to GMV whenever I open Shop Analytics. Shop GMV still includes returns, refunds and cancellations. The figure I would trust for a good month is what remains after total fees and adjustments, next to your category rank. I would ignore a dollar cutoff copied from a roundup. TikTok's pages give the formula, the rank, and a filter you set yourself.
The formulas and the menu paths come from TikTok's US Shop Analytics article, its Data Compass article, the Affiliate Center analytics page, the creator GMV article, the sample auto-approval article, and the Product GMV Max overview. The point that a high GMV can still sit far above the bank deposit comes from public seller threads. See how GMV Ledger researches TikTok Shop policies.
